Alien Throne: Continued.

Once the basic structure was built I began building out the bottom of the throne so I would look like it had grown from the ground like a creature.

I began to make my sculpture/mould for the seat of the throne. My aim is to make the seat expand like it is breathing, for this I will need to make a bladder that inflates and then deflates, however this will come later on. Once this mould is finished I will then paint X amounts of layers of liquid latex over the mould so once dry I can stretch the shape over the bladder.

Specialist Pathway: Aliens

My current project is called Specialist Pathway. This is the project I've been waiting a while for as it is our task to pick any subject matter revolving around either birth, life or death. I have to then design and create a prop or a set. I was immediately drawn to the idea of life, and the crux of my subject matter would be aliens. IS THERE INTELLIGENT LIFE BEYOND OUR PLANET?

After deciding on my subject matter relatively quickly I knew what I wanted to create: An Alien throne.

Being a HUGE fan of all the Alien films, including the amazing PROMETHEUS, and the special effects behind the films, I knew I was going to take some inspiration from the films and one of my favourite artists: H. R. Giger.

Heston's Big Egg: Channel 4 project

I was asked by a freelance prop maker based in Maidenhead to be an assistant on the making of huge egg in an egg cup for Heston Blumenthal's new show 'Heston's Fantastical foods' on channel 4.

Channel 4 was filming a 'Making of' section of the show and decided to film the making of the egg.

Set Model Box: God of Carnage

This project explores the art of theatre design, but mainly the processes behind designing a set for theatre. This project challenges my skills as a designer, organiser, researcher and maker.  The aim of this project is to produce a 1:25 scale model box with a Scenographic model of my final set design for my given play. I will be designing a set for the play‘God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza’.

My main influence with my design of the set was one character; Veronica. The play's setting is the portent of Veronica and Michael Reille. I knew that Veronicas taste would be the main influence on the look of the room but there would also be some small aspect that belong to Michael. Veronica main interests are art and travel and in the okay she explains she wiring a book on the conflict in Darfur. I took in spat ion  from this small detail and decided to go with a mainly african theme. This shows in the colour of the walls and the wall hangings. Michael influence is the bespoke made book and vinyl cases. Michael's invest is D.I.Y so it made to sense that he would make something for his own home.
